my friend gave me a book called 'the secret life of cows' which is hilarious, and dad gave me an absolutely freaking massive book on egypt, it's wonderful.
i'm not 100% better yet, but am feeling greatly improved from yesterday. Considering i started to feel sick wednesday night and began taking antibiotics that night, i think it's hit it early and hard. I should be ok for work tomorrow (double time and a half, yay). I'm the only one in kcp working all weekend. i think lyn feels bad that she's rostered me on so much, but by the same token, she knows i'll do it and i want the money/shifts. besides, come february, i'm gonna be calling in all those favours she's owing me right noww.....
so yeah, feeling better. daniel will be over by the afternoon, and we're going to go to the cousin's for afternoon/dinner stuff. this'll be the first year we don't have to leave when it gets dark because Rommy would perform.

even though sick as a dog, did the 4.5 hr roundtrip to gympie. my nana is v. frail, but she was in good spirits. we had an excellent visit with her, and that was so nice. it's been way too long since i've seen her. am making arrangements to see her again in january.
daniel's gone back to his mum's. tomorrow morning will be low key, then adam will get him by the afternoon, and we'll head over to the cousin's place.
my head feels like it's slowly filling up with mucus.
nyaaauughghdklssfds. what to do, what to do. praps shower and hp6 is in order (i haven't seen it).
ooh, or some white collar. hell yes.
wish i had the energy/concentration to read/write fic. but i so don't.
sent amy a text wishing her merry xmas from whiskey the koala (her fave). she sent me one back with one of her handsome boys from paradise country (oh man, i so misspelled that the first typing) called tyson. big bloody koala.
worked a massive week last week, paycheck was nice.
saving for my rego, aipp membership renewal, deposit, macbook pro, all sorts of shit.
deserves a mention that when i was walking through the park into the back of house areas yesterday (before the mucus bomb exploded in my head), saw a hot guy. hot guy saw me. eye contact, then he lookd away. i said to the people i was working with 'he is veeery hot'. then he turned around and looked at me again.
um, yay.

just this afternoon i started to sneeze uncontrollably, sniffle, and my tonsils swelled. I think i have a cold.
in summer.
2 days before xmas.
fucking perfect.
i have antibiotics to take that were prescribed for me to take to america in the event that i got a throat infection/tonsilitis, so i've gone straight on those. Here's hoping they work. i think they're gonna make me drowsy, at any rate.

daniel and adam are sleeping over tonight (i didn't find out until i got home). given xmas day is going to be very full on for him, we did some gift-giving tonight. he wanted ot give me real fish since mine died earlier in the year. But i kind of didn't want any fish for the moment, and he was disappointed. So the boys got me the next best thing -- Reel Big Fish's live albums :D so so awesome.
i gave him his present from work (marvel action figures! the thing and mr fantastic... so cool) and his pressie from me (a freaking awesome book on robots, and doctor who magnets), and they both went down an absolute treat.
got my hair cut, and it looks nice. ran to the shops to buy half-blood prince because it was cheap. it cost me $1 because i had a gift card.
now i am writing and watching Something Something Something Dark Side. Oh yeah.
Watch out for the robot camels wearing crocs!

koala country xmas party was really awesome. Amy was my secret santa and she ROCKS OUT LOUD. She's also still adorable.
training baby koalas is going awesomely, they're so beautiful. I love Ruby like whoa.
writing goes... rather well. slowed down a lot, though. need to pick it up again, which will hopefully pick up.

So today i got to take photos of and pat a young female tasmanian devil. Never done that before. never even been NEAR one before. they're bloody amazing. so compact and fierce-looking. but gorgeous.
koala xmas party tomorrow night. can't wait! will be fun. screwed if my secret santa gift for di doesn't arrive in the mail tomorrow. FUCKING DAMN YOU POSTAL STRIKE AROUND XMAS.
also, haven't been able to mail augustuscaesar's thing because it won't fit in a post box, and i've worked outside of the post office opening hours. tomorrow, tomorrow i shall do it.
just spent a few hours talking to dino, riffing about my old mik/ty piece. kickstarted my brain oh so beautifully. but must finish s/r braineating fic first.

got a pressie from phil at work yesterday.... haven't opened it yet. Am saving it for xmas day because circumstances being what they are, i don't think i've got anything to open on the actual day. 7th night of chanukkah tonight and we've been out too late and to distracted to even light the candles most nights. This makes me nuts, i loooove lighting the candles. Tomorrow night is my koala xmas party, and it's also the last night of chanukah, so we're doing the candles a tiny bit early tomorrow so i can light them before i have to drive to southport.
meanwhile last night after work, went to alysha's. the gang was all there. I gave them my little pressies and they went down really well, which was so nice. I even got a pressie from krista which i wasn't expecting... omg. it is a shirt that says 'captain awesome'. i love it so hardcore. IT'S AWESOME. oh man. she picked it well. <3 krista. I drew her a picture of jack and put it in a frame. and she looked at it and liked it.. then looked a bit more and said.. did you draw that? :D yes i did.
after that we went wandering around the neighbourhood looking at xmas lights. hilarious. then played on playground equipment! there's something unwholesome (and dizzymaking) about riding flying foxes and swinging at 10pm at night. Fun though.
and now i'm going into work on my day off. wheeeee. i'm exhausted. will write more fic that ate my brain when i get home. yay.

So i've been watching some old eps of this show while i've been writing today. Have loved it for years.
I"m watching an episode where Balki falls in love with a girl in his class who is only using him to help her get her work done. Larry tries to warn him but he won't listen. So at the end, of course he finds out.
And I know it's only a stupid 90's sitcom but his reaction absolutely gutted me; it was so heartfelt. He just... yeah. Very emotional.
Lame admission is lame.

after being stalled on a piece for a week or so, i've written almost 1k 2k tonight, and still have juice to keep going. I'm in the writer's quandary now; it's late, and i might have to go to work tomorrow. But as soon as I stop writing, the run will be finished. Do i sacrifice sleep/good sleeping patterns to continue a bit, or do i go and run the very high risk of getting off my game?
stupid decision is stupid.

Given today was the only day we could really do it, we had a chanukkah lunch together. Me, mum, dad, adam, daniel and my uncle had cold meat, salad and prawns (well, i didn't eat the prawns, but then again i've never been a big fan), then icecream. We were gonna do latkes, but it was a bit too hot for that. Latkes another night! I can't wait.
Didn't really do any presents, presents are gonna be a strange thing this year. Rommel threw a bit of a spanner into the works, most of my money's going towards that. And everyone understands that, so it's ok. A few pressies i'd already bought before that, so that's ok. But yeah.. it's going to be a bit of a small xmas/chanukkah this year.
Watched the waters of mars, which was good. Then had an afternoon storm in which adam, daniel and i washed the cars while it rained. It was really fun, actually, and my car is sparkly now. Afterwards came in and watched random eps of the Office, which my brother loved.
Then just before Daniel left, we lit the candles.
and just so you know, ragingpixie, we're going on 3 years, and daniel STILL asks for the chanukkah people and plays with them incessantly. I'm so afraid he's going to break the little table setting because he takes it everywhere with him. He loves them.
During lunch, daniel came out with some very interesting things.
Firstly, he told me that his christmas wish for me was that i got some new fish, because all of my other fish died. I told him that was very sweet.
Secondly, while we were waiting for lunch to get sorted, he looked out the window and sighed. just outside the dining table window is where rommel's bed was, and where he'd always be when a meal was on so he could watch.
Daniel looks out the window and says 'that's where rommel would sit whenever i was here'. i said yes. he said 'when he lived here... but now he's not here.' he sighed again and sort of covered his eyes. I wondered whether he was getting really upset, he looked like his eyes were a little moist. Then he turn around and goes '...WHAT?'.
strange little boy.
mmm. kind of got a bit of writing mojo back. A little. Am working on stuff. Got a QC job for dangerous pleasures, too, so that'll keep me from stealing hubcaps.
