Most awesome thing [Tuesday July 14th, 12:22am] happened today! I got Smojo out of his pen for photos. When I walked out into the photo area, he started to bellow and call out like the male koalas do to females. I've seen him do it before when someone was holding him, and it looks totally awesome, I'd so wanted to experience it. SO i'm holding him, and he's making these funny guttural sounds, and it's freaking AWESomE. his whole body moves and spasms a little, like he's got the hiccups. His head moves around and i feel way more of the noise than i actually hear. And... way cool. meanwhile, the people meant to be getting a photo (a middle eastern girl and her mother) freaked out and wouldn't hold him after, demanding another koala. Not possible. The girl kept being stupid and pulling away and yelling whenever smojo tried to step on so they ended up getting a refund. Just.. i know you're unsure, but don't fuck with my koala, dude. if I tell you not to pull away, you put yourself in danger because you put HIM in danger. aaaanyway. what a day! [Sunday July 12th, 7:31pm] [ mood | amused ] Today was pretty fun. JM's last day, and there were hugs and caramel tarts. I got to assign the koalas today so I made sure he got all his favourites. Amy made a big book of photos for him, but it's not quite finished so he'll get it properly on friday at his farewell. I have some photos to contribute i'll get printed in the next week. My big exciting thing today was that I got to hold an owl! I've been wanting to do it for ages, as they get women out of the audience at the magic of the australian bush show at work to do it. I told one of the girls that i'd like to come in on my day off and get chosen for the show. She said i didn't need to, next time she was doing the show, and next time I was taking photos for it, I could stay afterwards and get a piccie. Which I did. I got to hold Zorro the barn owl, and he was the one I really wanted to hold, anyway. Nothing against Wiley the other barn owl (part of the masked owl family, don't ya know) or Windjana the rufous owl (ooh, part of the hawk owl family), but I really wanted Zorro. He's so amazing up close, and Shelley took some awesome pics of him and i. It was faboo. Then she got fang the carpet python and took a few pics, too :D he was nice and cold! I so wish it hadn't been so busy at snake and croc photos today or i would've gotten a pic with Solar, the blackheaded python (the other one's called luna... that's too cute). Poor Jess, though. Solar doesn't get used for photos normally, and apparently, the terrestrial pythons are harder to use for photos than the arboreal varieties because they're not used to hanging onto things. So she had 8kg of wriggly non-hangy-onny python around her neck. they look fucking fantastic, though. Best looking snake I've ever seen. I shouldn't watch dancing with the stars. i'm starting to crush on millsy. MILLSY. fuck. (i did see him in wicked as fiero... he was remarkably good). IN THE ZONE [Friday July 10th, 1:57am] no, not the britney album. sometimes i abhor writing dialogue, it's clunky and hard and doesn't flow well. sometimes i fucking loooove it. i just wrote 2190 wds (the equivalent of 1.5 chapters) of Rewriting History, mostly dialogue, mostly argument. And there was a lot of chopping and changing, but i think it worked well. I hope it did at any rate. I also thought of something that'll extend the writing even longer. not sure if that's a good thing, but it's a thing at any rate. :) also will bring skids into it. and that'd be fun. otherwise... tomorrow, chapter twelve, here i come. 4 read . comment . edit . add to memories

relaxing days off, finally! [Thursday July 9th, 8:32pm] [ mood | hopeful ] What a relief after a long week. I haven't done much of anything in the past few days... I did need the break. Was meant to be going to Australia Zoo with some girls from work on wednesday but the weather wasn't great so it fell through. I don't mind, nice to have a relaxing day. Have bought a few things over the past few days. * star trek shirt (present for my mum * 'wombat stew'. awesome book, i think daniel will really enjoy it. I loved reading it when i was growing up. * tmnt cartoon, vols 4-6. they're the ones that fill in between the volumes i've got that i bought in america years ago, and the s6 dvd i bought last year. Added to the fact, they're cheaper here. snerk. * Time magazine with MJ. Seemed like a good thing to keep. It's really interesting * MJ live in bucharest: the dangerous tour on dvd. ok, i saw a bit of it in bigw and it made me so happy, particularly the thriller segment. it was AWESOME. So i wanted it. What a great concert. Still, it has some audio problems, it jumps a fair bit. I'm gonna have to take it back and exchange it. * 2 pairs of shoes. I was not expecting or intending to buy any shoes at all, but some very very good leather shoes were on special -- one pair is black with a blue stripe, a pair of ballet flats. very comfy, am going to take them to america as my nice pair of shoes, for when we go out. The other is a pair of red patent leather heels. The heels are extremely comfortable, they feel great to walk in, and i walk in them very steadily. Such a beautiful style, they will look great with anything, but in particular my rockabilly dresses. Both of them were the only ones in my style, and i got the two of them for just over half price. Leather shoes are good. * because i bought the shoes, i ended up being given a $20 voucher to westfield as well, so i guess you could say i got them under half price because next time i go somewhere, i get $20 off there. I love my transformers icon. Starscream is da bomb. Am going to have to post about my trip soon. It's coming up in 3 weeks. Omg 3 weeks! Thats so exciting! I have this desire to write a post for new friends. like, a bit about me and link to it so people know what they're getting into *g* But instead, i'm gonna work on my mikhael/tybalt fic. camera review [Wednesday July 8th, 12:46am] after work today I stuck around for a few hours to take photos for a function. the theme park school group was graduating, and steve asked me to do pics of them. It was a good test of the camera, to see how it would function in low light, and even with the flash that i hadn't used yet. omg. any tiny pool of doubt i had about buying it is gone. I had it in very high iso speeds, I worked with and without flash, and everything's just sharp and awesome. Apart from the photos with people pulling silly faces, i'm not unhappy with any of them. And that's big, for me. AFter the formalities, the groups went through the avpx laser tag. I went in and took some pics, a great opportunity to do so as i wouldn't be able to do that with regular guests in the park. I got some interesting pics i'm editing currently. the sharpness is blowing me away. I'm coming to think i wasn't paranoid and there may have been something slightly off with the 400d's focus in the latter half of my time with it. or maybe it's just that this camera is so far and away better than it. Still... i look at some pics from supanova and i think they shouldnt've been like that.... then again, the light was fucking abysmal, that never helped. Anyway, camera is made of WIN. i'll upload a few photos from inside avpx tomorrow. I just have to do something about my flash.... it chews through the batteries so fast i don't know what to do with it. i don't use rechargables even though i know i should. i can never find 2 chargers to have plugged in at the same time so i can get a full set when i need them. laziness i know. so i go for the regular ones. and it sucks them out like whoa. i put a new set in yesterday. took maybe a dozen photos with the flash on before the event. halfway through the 15 min formalities, the recycle time of the flash started to get shitty. if i took 2 photos in relatively quick succession it didn't fire for the second one. i think that's a bit ordinary. I would've manually turned the intensity of the flash down a bit but i didn't have time to fiddle with it, i left it on ETTL instead. if anyone has any helpful tips for the 580exII i'd gratefully hear them. i don't want it to be a big drain on my holiday. speaking of which, THAT'S ludicrously close. omg. :D comment . edit . add to memories

I am rugged up today, and am going to wear my scarf into kcp. after a week of shitty koalas, I have good ones today. [Thursday July 2nd, 9:23pm] [ mood | lethargic ] spent all day high as a kite waiting to get my camera.. now i've got it and i'm tired and want to go to bed :) my batteries are charged and i need to read up on the instruction book so i know how to work everything. futzing around on my own only gets so far. the menu system is similar to the 40-50ds, etc, but i never used them very much so it's very different to the camera i did have. So i want to be happy and comfortable with it by the time I go overseas. meanwhile... that's all come together. I should post about that at some stage. AWESOME DOCTOR WHO TRAILER. + camera [Thursday July 2nd, 7:18pm] [ mood | hyper ] They were just advertising the screening of The Impossible Planet (one of my fave episodes) on ABC2. They did it to the Prodigy's Firestarter, and then put some of I Don't Want To Miss A Thing in by the end.... ... it was awesome. Meanwhile... even though I had to go to work today, I went to photo continental after and bought my camera. I feel soooo poor now. But it's worth it. I'm waiting impatiently for the batteries to charge so I can play. I bought hte battery grip, but without it on, it still fits into my camera bag very nicely. Even better than the other camera, to be honest. With the battery grip, it won't fit. but that's ok. It'll still fit into my big backpack. but just so you know? The camera is AMAZING. I got good deals on everything, i think... But i'm just so chuffed that it's mine now. Oh, and i totally feel poor :) Please hurry up and charge, batteries, so i can play! I'm going to take it to work tomorrow and get some koala piccies. It should be good :) Jade and my Molly were so clingy today, they didn't want to go to anyone else. [Wednesday July 1st, 11:33pm] [ mood | excited ] varied things.... work has been good -- busy but good. Still, it's awesome to have days off now. I've been editing my epic mikhael/tybalt fic. It's unfinished and i really have no idea what i'm going to do with it, but i like it too much to just leave it. I've divided it into 7 chapters so far, each one between 1800-2300 words. I'm doing editing but I know someone else will pick up more mistakes, so I must find someone who is willing to help me on that. am not sure if i'll post it to lj. i don't get any readers for my fh fic on here anymore, let alone something as old as bmb *g* ah well, i'd just like to finish it. i have to update facades as well, and i must do a bit of brainstorming for new fic ideas for Appearances. I've officially exhausted all the ideas I had. And i'd like to write good egoist angst /random. but again, need a story. Got my nails done today. Next time i get them done it'll be something awesome for my trip. And i'm almost finished watching ds9. Omg. yay. The big thing for me tomorrow is, however... I'M GETTING MY CAMERA. ATTENTION PEOPLE IN THE UK. [Wednesday July 1st, 4:24pm] [ mood | hopeful ] specifically apiphile, naughtyspirit. and missbeliever Sammy J in the Forest of Dreams is doing a few shows at the tail end of July in Leicester Square Theatre, london. This show is so worth seeing. It reminds me a lot of the awesomeness of Attack of the Attacking Attackers, which I was so enamored with last year, with the fabulous concept and many pop culture references. Sammy J is also a little bit cute. You should definitely go if you want to experience: a) a puppet saying 'c*nt' b) a puppet saying something along the lines of 'cumdrenched whores' -- i paraphrase because i forget the exact quote. c) puppet boobs d) puppet/man sex. e) a trashtalking tree f) (apparently scottish) birds that have extra-marital affair issues g) general AWESOMENESS.
